18:10:Discussion of location of space

• 2525 pickle rd. Akron oh
  • possible problems: not downtown, too far away from bus stops
  • benefits: cheap, $650/mo for 1406 sq ft (plus utilities)
• 10 main St. Akron oh
  • possible problems: expensive, $750/mo for 800 sq ft (plus utilities)
  • benefits: downtown, on (or very close to) many bus routes

18:30: Incorporating SYN/HAK

• name of corporation: SYN/hak Inc.
• purpose for which the incorporation is formed: For charitable, educational, scientific purposes through collaborative projects to encourage research, learning, and knowledge exchange of a technical and creative nature.
• Trever Fischer is the statutory agent
• Chris Egeland, Devin Wolfe, Gaurav Saxena all were signers for the incorperation

18:43: reminder that Trever Fischer's home at 1456 Riverside Dr. Is the SYN/HAK office at the moment

• There's free coffee there but using the coffee that Penny is keeping there is not permitted

18:47: There is a $125 incorporation fee. Chris Egeland, Devin Wolfe, Gaurav Saxena, and Marcus Vogl all donated money to the cause 18:52: Ingenuity fest: could SYN/HAK host a portion of this?

• the event is in Sept. So we want to get our ideas together by march
• Marcus will make a page on the wiki by Wednesday
• it's also important to note that this would be great way to increase membership

19:03: Should there be a private board mailing list?

• this is for private info discussed among the board but if there should not be anything in the private board discussion that should be public
• the motion for this passed
• info@synhak.org is the agreed upon mailing address for general mailing to the space
• everyone present agreed that transparency should be emphasized

19:11: By law discussion

• Member Qualifications
  • Trever thought a good idea would be to have those at the monthly meeting approve or deny membership to others
  • Devin said that in many gun clubs have it so you have to know someone in the club
    • This might give a private feel to the club so this is not favored
  • Should there be a age requirement for SYN/HAK membership?
    • This was not favored
  • Overall, to become a member the community must approve you
  • membership should be monthly
    • maybe a discount for 3 months?
• Membership suspention and termination
  • the idea of a difference between suspension and termination is needed
    • suspension may mean that you have a very restricted access to the space and can keep your things there no need to pay start up fee again
    • in termination you are completely out and must pay any sort of start up fee
  • either the board or the officers will investigate any suspensions and terminations
  • there may also need to be a way to skip suspension and go straight to termination
  • Trever will discuss weapons in his next meeting with the seed clinic

19:39: Chris will contact sam from ma to hopefully get him to the next meeting, Marcus will make the wiki page, Devin will contact the landlord about the space On pickle, and Trever will meet with the seed clinic to discuss ideas mentioned previously in these minutes. 19:44: any last minute notes?

• Talk to other hakersapces to see what should be anticipated for the first year. What problems did you have? What were the solutions? What will we have to do without?
