|Phuzion||Multi-console TAS verifying system||TAS videos are Tool Assisted Speedruns, basically videos where people will take an emulated videogame and come up with the fastest way to play through the game, using frame-by-frame instructions to the game. This makes it appear as if the game is being played through with superhuman speed and skill, when in reality, the game is just being played through by a computer program. Not in the sense of AI, but more in the sense of a list of what buttons to press and when.
One trend in the TAS community is to do "console verified" speedruns, in other words, have a computer play the game through with the same set of instructions on the genuine console (as opposed to an emulator, where most TAS's are written and played). Currently, the NES is (to my knowledge) the only console with any type of playback device developed. I would like to investigate the development of a playback device for a different, possibly newer console.
