Greetings, hakkers!
Super glad that everyone liked the MakerGear meeting. We had 30 people present at its peak, which is really awesome. However, we need to sit down and discuss making some real progress with the space.
Our next meeting is this coming Tuesday from 7 pm to 9 pm at New Era Cafe, just a bit south of UA's campus, along market street.

Also, a link to urbanspoon, which has a map and menu info: http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/16/203301/restaurant/Cleveland/New-Era-Cafe-Akron
We're meeting here instead of in folk because it is more enticing to have food and a fun atmosphere when discussing boring matters when compared to the rather austere environment of a classroom in Folk.
At this meeting, we will be discussing the logistics of forming a board of officers, a crucial step on the path to becoming a non-profit corporation. By the end, we will have determined what positions we will need, their roles and duties, and outline a plan for the next meeting in January. Additionally, we will discuss the theme for the next social meeting, scheduled for January: http://synhak.org/wiki/Meetings/10-1-2012
A number of people are in SYN/HAK and the Akron Linux User's Group, so they'll be familiar with the venue. If not, its a cozy place with good food for cheap. You of course are not required to buy food, so don't let that keep you from showing up :-)
On a final note, I should point out that this is *not* an election. That won't happen 'till the next organizational meeting at the end of January at the earliest. However, you should show up to this if you are interested in helping out. Every opinion counts and will make sure everyone is satisfied. An unfortunate phenomenon with many spaces is that people eventually become unhappy with how things are ran and start to form splinter spaces, thus dividing the community as a whole. Hopefully we'll do a good enough job to prevent that from happening in the future.
See you then! :-D
